Question: Can you qualify for Boston Marathon with an Ironman??

For me to qualify for Boston, I have to run under 3hrs 10min. Let say for my Ironman, I run a sub 3 hr. Now can I use my Ironman race result to qualify for Boston? So if I train really hard for Ironman, I can qualify for Boston as well. Two birds with one stone :). I love endurance sports.

A question to ponder while I sit around resting till I get better. I feel much better today. By tomorrow, I should be able to go for a run or a swim.

I don't know if you can qualify for Boston in an Ironman race but if you can run a sub 3 hour race after a swim and bike then you could certainly run a stand alone marathon to qualify ..wouldn't you think?

That is fast!

That is fast.

I think it has to be a Boston Qualifier race.

Wow, I couldn't even think about a sub 3 hour marathon in an Ironman -isn't that like a pro-mens time? Never hurts to aim high, I guess!

Go to the Boston Marathon website-there are specific sanctioned races that "count" for qualification. Not just any Marathon. There is one here (Tucson) early December-if you're ready...!
