17 years and 'running'
The day of my liver transplant is Apr 12, 1991. Yesterday when I was running outside, I realize that it had been 17 years since my liver transplant.
As I jogged around the neighborhood, I thought about how amazing life is.
Today after church, I went to a funeral viewing. The person who passed away was a mother who died from cancer. Just a few days before she departed, I received an email stating that she was in a much better shape.
I was saddened when I heard of the news that she passed away.
After the viewing, I was tired. But I decided to gear up for a ride. The weather hasn't warm up as early as I like. And when it comes to riding out in the cold, I am such a wuss.
There are kids riding in t-shirts. I am riding with a short sleeve and arm warmers under. A long sleeve on top. Wool socks with booties to cover the the bike shoes. A toque underneath my helmet. And a pair of gloves.
Still I feel cold. The last 30 min, I felt the weather dropped. On the way back home, I saw runners in their shorts. Like I said, I am such a wuss :)
It was good to be on the road again.
At life, there are many things that I get side track and think they are priority. Sometimes it takes a bike ride to brings me back to what's important.
Liver transplant for 17 years and still 'running'.
Note: No surprise party pic yet....I gotta get them from my friends before i post them on...

It's interesting how people who are sick, tend to get better but then pass on to a better place! WOW 17 years!? It's great you were able to reflect and give thanks!
Praise God! It is an amazing testamony that 17 years on, you are not only "running", but swimming and biking. :-)

A great reminder to always appreciate what we are blessed with!
Congrats on your 17 years, Cliff!
You wanna see weather wusses? Come down to FL in the winter. When most Canadians are wearing shorts, we are bundled up like eskimos.
Congrats on 17 great years for you, Cliff. Keep on sharing your story!
