Well, it ain't all bad.

So last night I had a brief discussion with my mom. Her (and my sis) greatest concered was me on the bike. After my bike accident and hearing other stories of cyclist getting hit by cars, they were worry (which is normal).

I do what I can to protect myself. Helmet (of course). Ride on quieter roads. Ride with others. Give cars right of way. .....

I asked them to come to see me in Lake Placid. They didn't said no. They also accpeted that I will be riding outdoor. So it ain't all that bad. I wished my mom was one of those ppl that get excited about what I do. I am sure she is but she ain't the type that shows it.

Physically wise, the hip flexor, hip socket tendon pull, I am still feeling a bit of it it. I am stretching to help ease the recovery.

Darren suggests I take a break from training. Which I did. Sat, no more long ride with Will. Sun, may or may not run with Anners. If I run with her, probably the last 10 km.

Training wise, this week really went down the drain. Am I feeling anxious? Not really. I know what I am going through right now, I have to find a solution before I move on. And in the last two weeks, my trainings were hitting huge volume. More so than I ever imagine.

I can't wait until the next few months when I continue to push the envelope. I do want to go hit the pool. But can't. Body and mind need a rest. I am hungry, guys..really hungry...i knwo with more rest, I will be hungrier :D

I definitely need more rest though. I still haven't recovered the sleep I lost on Tues night when I didn't sleep.

Looking forward to tomorrow. Going to listen to Toronto Symphony Orchestra (they are playing Mozart). I haven't done that for a long long time.

Heather the lurker (sorry for not finding a better word :D) has asked me what emotions I go through when I train. I feel a wide range. On Tues when I hit the pool in the morning, I was in an angry mood. The 20-25 min or so I spent in the pool, I was just upset over the situation and really using physical pain to replace the mental one. [Despite my foul mood, I still had a smile on my face underwater as I plow away the 1 km. Just happy to see all the hard work in the pool is finally paying off.]

There are days where I am stress from life and use training as a way to get away.

But other times, it is more positive. The long bike rides were always the time where I ride for the sake of riding. Running is when I think about life and time I spent with God. The short drills (hill run, tempo run, isolated bike drill, bike hill climb), I focus on the training b/c they require a lot of me to perform.

Have a great weekend everyone...Mother's Day is upon us.....:)...

Great post Clif!! I am glad things are getting somewhat resolved. Finding the right balance is really tough and I don't know if any of us have quite figured it out!! Good luck this weekend--are you running the marathon??

Take care of yourself. If you don't feel up to running with me tomorrow, then don't. I will still be motivated to get to the finish line so that I can kick your butt ^^

Get some rest!!

Concerned about the riding, not getting too excited about your thing... Your mom and my wife both dude, so I empathize. :)

I think Asian parents just are stereotypically that way. Not very openly supportive, but you know that deep down inside, they'll be very proud of your accomplishments!
