This morning:
2000 m (40 laps) - 53 min
This morning swim wasn't part on my training schedule. I just need to do this to change my perspective. Like T-Metz's blog, there is no try. I am going to do it and that's that.
Now 4 laps (200 m) is no longer far. Sometimes I have to stretch my perspective. Just like cycling...I use to think 2-3 hours is long...then I ride for 4-5 hours. Then I ride for 8 hours. Same thing goes in the pool.
I am not serious until I slap some money on the table. Sunday I registered for the Peterborough 1/2 Ironman. It ain't a lot of money but now my mindset change. Time to really get the training done. Put the money in the bank.
I focus on getting a good glide. I ain't huffing and puffing as much as before. So that's a good sign.
I am going to stick with my coach. I told him that if he can train me to swim 2 km in 45 min by June, I will get him a beer. It seems all this training is about alcohol one way or the ot
My stroke is much more relax. I notice my left hand is not gliding as much as my right. Will have to work on that.
I also noticed that they change the lifeguards. They are both females and weight about 110 pounds. No offense but there are grannys and grandpas that weight at least 250 lbs. I wonder how in the world are the lifeguards drag them out of water when they weight twice as much as they do? Then I realize....the lifeguards ain't for the old ppl, they are there for me :D.
Now all I need is to get a bunch of tennis balls as Nancy suggested...
Regarding yesterday's post. I was watching a mini documentary of how Canada started with public health care. I just like to comment that my post from yesterday ain't bashing about free health care. I am just a bit disappointed at how poorly it is structure right now. In fact, I own my life to Canada's health care. My liver transplant would cost about $100,000 US. This does not include medication and care afterwards. There is no way my family would afford it.

I just need to break my mentally that 2 km is far. Just to build my confidence that I can swim the HIM portion.
Good job in registering for the race. It always adds a little intensity to my workouts when I know I'm registered!
I haven't registered yet for Peterborough but your committment has edged me on.
There is a lot of buoyancy in that 250 lbs. Doesn't sound like you are the drowning type. I think you're safe.
Glad to hear that you registered for the race. Keep after it, usually the training is harder than the race.

I hear your frustrations about the health care, but like you said you are very fortunate that it is free. I have been without health care since my wife left her job about 3 years ago. I have another 18 months before I can start teaching and will not be able to afford health care until then.
Now you are on the way to the race!
I went to the hot bad and helped a lot, I prefered it rather than the cold one!!

You are well on your way to having a good race (swim included). Don't forget the benefits of a wetsuit and drafting- they will shave time off your split for sure!
