Oh this is so hard....
I just have an interesting chat with a friend. He was telling me how as athesis have a easier life and Christians have a harder life b/c of the narrow path we have to walk. That got me thinking. Why do things if it is hard?
A few years ago, I came to realization that it doesn't make sense if I have to base my life on taking the easy path or the hard path. Why go to school? It is hard. Why work? It is hard. If I have to decide on what I do on a day to day basis whether it is easy or hard, I would be sitting at home all day long.
Hard or easy is not relevant at all. What relevant is the result from doing it. Is it hard to train? Of course. But we all know that no pain no gain. And I know everytime I train, I am growing (ok at times I don't feel like that but I have to remind myself). When I decide on what I do base on whether it is worth it, then easy or not, it doesn't matter. Just do.
Speaking of just do, my testimonial last night went very well. Thanks a lot for the encouragement.
The weather was very bad. Freezing rain, black ice. Yet my Fellowship still showed up and support me. Yifan, a girl in my Fellowship, did a great job leading the group with a few songs in the beginning. I believed I talked too fast. I talked about my operation, my traithlon training, and a few other Christian Triathletes I met along the way.
Now, I am getting back to training. It felt like the past two days, I haven't train at all. I only did Yoga last night before heading to the Testimonial. Today going to do a long run after work. Speaking of which..I am itchy to head out....

I can't say I agree with your friend's line of thinking, that anyone on this earth has it "easier". That sounds a lot like self-pity to me!

I usually find that the right way is the harder way. Nothing worth having is ever easy. Maybe it's better to think in terms of right and wrong instead of hard vs. easy?
i used to be agnostic and didnt find anything any easier :P

I read something recently that dealt with what you are saying to a degree. "The road to hell is easy to travel and the gate into Hell is very wide and easy to find. The road to Heaven is more difficult to tread and the gate into Heaven is narrow and difficult to find. However, for those that succeed into Heaven the reward will be unfathomable." That's what I kind of keep in mind when things get tough.

Chris, I was reflecting the same thing. I know the times when I want to quit, but I didn't. I know deep down what I am doing, no matter how difficult it is, is the right thing to do. This applies to training, work, life.
Living and playing HARD, is living well...don't let anyone tell you differently!
EASY= LAZY and BORING!
God makes things harder so we learn..and learn..and keep learning..and changing of course..hopefully for the better.

Hi Cliff, so glad to hear your testimony went well. Praise God indeed that despite it being a cold icy night and a young(ish) fellowship group, they showed up to support you! I tend to agree with some of the others here - if I think back to before I had the Lord in my life, things SEEMED easier, but is actually tougher simply because there was no confident dependence on Him for strength, grace, etc.
I also agree with Chris, hard as it is, the mandate is always to do "the right thing". May the Lord bless us with discernment of what is the "right thing" and the strength to do it!

It's always "easier" to make a god of yourself rather than follow the narrow road taking up your cross daily-but you follow that narrow road, beating your flesh as Paul did, to glorify the one that created you. Life is hard and "all creation groans from the weight of sin...in the hopes that some might come to know the wonder of the glory of God"

it is shortsighted to think that this life is hard -- it will be so much harder for the atheist after death! (that may seem narrow-minded to those who are not Christians, but our freedom in Christ makes this life a piece of cake, no matter how difficult our circumstances are)
I don't think athesist have it any easier than Christians. I think athesists find convienence in believing in nothing rather than having a moral compass. That may not have come out right but hey this isn't a discussion.
