The night before the Hustle

I went for a jog today. I haven't jog since...hmm since I don't even remember.

Tommorow is the Hannakah Hustle. It is a 5 k/10 k local race. My friend, Melissa, is doing her first race. This is the second person that I brought (indirectly) to running. Awesome :D. I hope she has a lot of fun.

For me, I want to run fast. I was thinking how fast I can go. 40 min? 44 min? I don't know. I try not to think too much about it. It just add unnecessary pressure on. I can't control my time. But I can control my HR and control how hard I push. If I control my HR and my paec, faster time will be the result. Don't worry about the result, focus on the process.

The run today is a warm up for tomorrow. I have to admit I have suffered Common Man syndrome lately. I just finish taking an afternoon nap and I lay on the bed for a brief second. The moment though, seemed to last longer. I was contemplating how comfortable I am and I should head back to bed.

I am glad I ran. I saw a deer again. In fact, it was watching me running along. I stopped and waved. He must think "That crazy runner is distrubing my peace."

I pushed my HR higher than normal. I spent most of the time running with a 173 HR. There was a time when it hit 180 (running up a hill). Bad idea. My legs were aching a bit afterwards.

I am heading to bed in a few minutes. Today is a very relax day. I enjoy the time alone, enjoy the run, enjoy nothing plan, enjoy no meeting, enjoy no social gathering (yes this can be stressful at times). Just a relaxing day. Right now I am blasting myself with Linkin Park music. My way of pumping myself before a race...

Time for bed.. :)

Have a good race Cliff. Start steady and finish fast. 10k can seem longer if you push too hard at the start.

Can't wait to hear your report!

ooooh good luck on your race! You must have a nicer area to run than I do because I would never see a deer here. Lucky. :) But I guess I'll move to a place where that's possible in a month!

Anyway, I like your attitude.. focusing on the process not outcome.. keep it up!
