Practicing to drink and run (not drink and drive :) ) and Priasing the Lord..
Did another 12 km today. I spent the day mainly to practice drinking from the bottles. If there is one thing I miss about losing a front tooth, it is drinking. I use the front teeth to pry the cap open, drink and cloes it. Now I have to open by hand.
Thank God I have chubby lips. I was able to pour the water down without the cap touching my teeth. So far so good. I need another run to practice taking down the gel. Didn't work that well last time on Sat.
Today I ran really slow. I made sure my HB was around 150. If I could get it below 150, even better. I know when I start running, it will spike up to high 150s. This is even when I run super slow. Then after 20 min or so, it will drop back down. I guess my body is just trying to get use to running. I also found that my feet don't ache when I run below 150. Compare to last Fri when I ran with high 150s, today, running the same route, I felt fine.
In fact, by the end I was able to increase my pace and stride and my HB is still below 150s. If I have taken the same stride and pace in the beginning of my run, I would be hitting 160.
There is still a lot I need to learn about HR reading.
Before I did my run, my mom told me my Grandma is going to give me 1000 dollars to fix my tooth. I am in awe. I talked to her on Sat over the phone. My mom told her about my missing tooth. I didn't want it. But since it is rude to not accept the gift. God is amazing. For most of the run, I just want to give thanks. I can't say I am overly worry but I don't think is possible to not worry abit.
With so much encouragement from family and friends and blessing of the Lord....i ask myself..how can I not go pound that 42 km. I feel grateful and determine at the same time. Yeah, I think I am ready.

GO TOOTHLESS GO!
also, i was surprised to find that i agree with many of your random thoughts. we are more similar than i thought.
What an awesome blessing! You deserve it...
Yea - $$ for your tooth!! Are you going to the dentist before or after your marathon? Wow - your marathon is sooooo close.
I will run first. I figure with one less tooth I can run faster..(less weight = more speed right? :))
The dentist told me to see him a month or two afterwards. I am still waiting for the gums to heal.
Yes I am putting my training before my teeth. Hmm...what can i say.. :)..
What a great turn of fortune - I'm so happy for you!!!
Cliff thanks for the post on my blog. www.charronrunning.blogspot.com I hope you follow my weekly posts up to the Ottawa marathon on May 28 2006. Take Care of that tooth.
Hey Clif,
When you say tooth, does it come out Toof? You might consider hockey in the mean time, just a thought.
