Are you training?
2008 and I feel great. The weather has been wickedly cool [literrally] (-24*C or 1*F). Nuts :0).
A number of friends have been asking me if I am training. Heh, I guess that's a good question to ask a triathlete :0)
Though, I don't feel like I am training. Even on Jan 1, the first day of the year, I ran/hiked 20 km (12.5 miles). I don't consider that as training. It was just fun. To be outdoor. In the snow. Running around. Keeping the feet light, the body relax and quick cadence. I am surprise at how well I feel yesterday and today. The legs felt great. Little soreness.
If I have a few more holidays, I will wake up without an alarm...slowly get my stuff ready and head out for another hike. Then come home...eat and get lazy (err recover) Hmm :) That's sounds like my type of vacation.
I am riding my Dual more. I am starting to get use to the tri position. That's fun. Ain't really training. It just feels great to be on the saddle again. I notice my left foot ain't riding as strong as my right one. This will be addressed in the weight room as I balanced my muscles. I can't wait to bring Dual outdoor on the road.
I haven't swim since my Ironman (IMUSA, July). That's 6 months. Yeah I need to get back in the pool.
I started to do core exercise and stretching. Those are relaxing and fun in a painful sorta way (especially from a guy who ain't very flexible).
So all in all, am I training? How does one define training?
Darren is organizing an Alton Half later this month and I am pump to ride a few hrs on the trainer and go out and run a half marathon (21 km or 13.1 miles) afterwards. I want to do more hiking in the snow. I ordered two pairs of runners in Dec and waiting for them so I can run more (my current pairs are worn out).
It's good to be out in the cold. Even if it is freezing and wearing triple layer.

Happy New Year Buddy!! The pool is humbling after 6 months. It's funny you get back in and think you can pick up where you left off. NOT!! However it does come back fast. Good Luck!!
Happy New Year, Cliff. Glad to see you are still training and spending time on that SWEET bike. Color me jealous, she's a beauty.
No, I'm not.
Yes, you are training, and reminding me to be thankful for the weather in Singapore.
I have just started training again after too much food, wine, and kids over the Christmas & New Year holidays. :-)
I've started at least thinking about training. :)
Happy New Year! Good question about what exactly is training. I didn't used to think maintenance training was real training but compared to doing nothing, it certainly is. So, I guess I've been training or maintaining, and so have you. Whatever it is, I agree that it's fun.
