Quick Bloggie..

- yesterday spent two hours with the swim Coach. Did a lot of balance drills (the same as TI). I am very comfortable in the water. No problem with balance. There is a slight improvement in my kick. I am still not good enough to swim without it. Coach and I realize that I am too stiff....ARGH :)....Rock is more flexible than me. I am stiff in my ankle, my legs and my hips. Stretching and yoga should help.

- I plan out my training schedule for Dec and Jan. Dec is the transition period and Jan is the prep period. Basically it involves a lot of drills and technique. Cardio is put on minimal until I hit the Base period (from Feb on). (more detail later)

- I had dinner with some university friends. I didn't realize Business Analyst can make so much. I am definitely underpaid. I am looking into this objectively. Still in the thinking mode. If I am going for IM, I do need a job that can finance me into the sport (can't believe sweating is so expensive :) ). There are reasons why I am staying with where I am working right now. But with the need of a more stable (just more) income to train, the underlying reason changes. I first came into this job accepting the underpay knowing that I will be able to learn more about business experience and get mentored. However, things are not as what it seemed. This matter will require more thinking and praying.

To all the Christian readers....have you ever consider yourself as a modern day tent maker? Just like Paul in his times when he had to make a living (making tent) to preach (or serve God). Have you seeing the job where you work is the resources God given you to do what you are intended for. Be that maybe in missionary, discipleship and/or worship.

Things are changing quite rapidly. My only concern is whether I am doing for greed or for God...

I absolutely believe that God has put me in the right place. I believe, really I do, that helping people get into shape is not much different than a Pastor helping people get into spiritual shape. Education, motivation and accountablity.

I think that there is nothing wrong with greed in the right context. Is it greedy to balance family with a boss who demands more time? Is it greedy to want to make more money, which usually means more responsiblity and authority? Is it greedy to need to make more money for your desires to do triathlon? I say greed on all those accounts are a good thing.

Keep working on those swim drills. It won't happen overnight. You just have to keep drilling and drilling and drilling. Keep it up Cliff
