I use gmap pedometer and measure my route. It comes to 240 km (150 miles). Holy freak. This will be a long long trip. I asked for an adventure and I got one. This ain't a walk in the park.
This morning, I remembered the time I went to PEI by myself, rent a bike and rode for three days. It was an awesome experience. There was no cars, no traffic, no street noise. Just quietness. It was ackward...but in a good way. I missed that a lot.
It was a bit scary. I mean, I was all by myself. If I fell into a ditch, no one would know. I could simply disappeared off the face of the earth.
The longest I had ridden before was two years ago. Me and my buddy rode 180 km (112 miles). Back then I have no clue about nutrition. We would ride for 4 hours, stopped at McDonalds and rode another 4. It was a chilly day to ride. In the mid 40s *F (about 8 *C).
If I could do it then, I could do it now.
This Sat will be a great day. The weather is perfect.

Nice to see how you are planning since many days ahead this that will be a great birthday... I'd like to plan something like that to celebrate too!
Maybe you should have planned 260K in honour of your 26th birthday? Just kidding, 200K is going to tire you out plenty.
What a way to kick off a new year of life!
You're brining a camera right? We want pictures of your journey, of course ;)
Enjoy. I'm sure it will be great!
Awesome! Very exciting--can't wait to hear how it goes!
Enjoy the ride!!! Are you taking a camera?
CHARGE IT!! can't wait to hear about the ride.
Epics- you gotta love'em! Once you get into your groove, that rolling meditation is a beautiful thing. Here's to great weather and tailwinds on your ride!
Good luck Cliff. Ride smart.
Have a safe and fun ride. You may want to pay attention to nutrition and I don't mean mcdonalds.
If we don't see a post by Monday we'll all come looking for you!
Have a great trip, mate. I'm sure you will have a blast.
good luck cliff. bring more food than you think you need.
Have a great day Saturday! Enjoy the weather.
Cliff, I would try and bring about 300-400 cals per hour. Bring some solid food. A really good source of carbs are fig newtons. (50 cals per newton) - I use the store brand. Take a box and throw it in the back of your jersey. You never know what will taste good after 6 or 8 hours. You may hate gels by then. Also, powerbars work. I use this product called infinit nutrition. You get your stuff custom made. Works pretty well for me and I would recommend it.
Also, if its colder, then you need to consume more cals since your body is working to produce heat to keep warm.
You're a glutton for punishment! But have an awesome ride! And make you you start eating before the four hour mark this time. Maybe something other than McDonalds? :)
Can I come too?
I love love love long rides...you are going to have such a blast - what a perfect day.
Sending you best wishes for your birthday!
Have an awesome ride! I can't wait to hear about it!
