Once someone knows you did an Ironman, converastions become quite interesting...
i) At work...
'I am going to eat like you. Sitting at the table, take out a raw cabbage and start munching on it'
Today, I saw my coworker's lunch. It was chicken, sweet pepper, a banana and a tangerine. I said 'hey that's like me. Next time when I eat my raw cabbage, I will pass it to you for a bite'
ii) With cousin over the holidays...
'So what do you do now that Ironman is over? You don't watch tv. You don't go out. You must have a lot of free time...'
iii) From friends...
'Now that you are not racing, are you counting your calories again?'
iv) From the lifeguard in my local pool...
'That's it? You just got in. You did an Ironman. What's going on?'
This is after I went into the pool last thurs. Swim for 10 min and got back out. This is what happen when you don't swim for 6 months. I am totally out of shape :). What I use to swim for warm up becomes a full swim for me.
...
Here is what's in store on my end...
Swim - looking at putting two sessions in a week (this is maintenance).
Bike - Continue to ride and get use to aero position
Run - The focus of this year. Run run run. Run frequent, run long, run hilly.
Jan 26th - Alton Half at Darren's place. This should be good. If I can get in a few two hour rides on my trainer before then, I should be ready to have some fun.
March 30th - Around the Bay 30 k. My first race of the year. First 20 k flat, last 10 k hilly. I saw the elevation and it ain't as bad as what people say. It is 11 weeks away and will be a good indicator at how good my running legs will be.
Until then...eat healthy, live healthy and be thankful to be able to go out and have fun :). I went snowboarding on Sat and my left quad is still aching from that. Will be going to get in a few squash games with some friends.

Sounds like your plan is coming together, Cliff.
Sounds as if you are having fun and keeping fit at the same time!
Cabbage? Do you eat a wedge of cabbage at the table? I love cabbage...but it doesn't love me too much! :-)
I hear ya on the swimming. I'm just getting back in the pool myself!
It drives me crazy when people make comments that I'm in running shape since I've run one marathon. I'm just starting to think about the plan to get back in shape, not just swimming but everything!
Good luck with the Around the Bay. A friend of mine did it last year and still speaks about his experience, enjoy the running!
P.s. And pass the cabbage:)
